You can see the entire South Padre Island from atop this historic lighthouse, first lit in 1853. A replica of the lighthouse keeper's cottage is on the grounds.

I figured this would be a free attraction because I did not see any signs. But it is not when you walk into the lighthouse a lady sitting at a small desk tells you that you have to pay to go up to the top....More

There is a lot of history with this Lighthouse. I suggest purchasing the combo package with the history museum. You get to climb the stairs and go out on the balcony of the lighthouse to take pictures. There is a square around the area with...More

We were on our way to the beach at South Padre Island and stopped here to check it out. The admission fee was nominal and the attendant there was friendly. The climb is 70-something narrow, spiraling stairs which wasn't a problem to climb for this...More

Quite a confined stairway to the top, and it gets narrower as you go up. Windy at the top, but the view is amazing.

Well it’s beautiful on the outside. The thought of going in a lighthouse is very exciting. I think there needs to be some order in the people going up and down. The stairs are very narrow and steep. Kids running up and down. While some...More
