There's nothing like it. Whether you're new to Shakespeare, think you don't like Shakespeare, consider yourself a jaded scholar or veteran playgoer you'll likely feel a trip to Winedale is as good as it gets.

This is a great place to see Shakespeare performed mostly by amateurs. Although productions are in the summer and it can be pretty hot, it is fun and well worth the trip to this beautiful area and property. We looked at the place this weekend, but have been to plays four and five years ago.

This past Saturday (July 18, 2015) we saw two plays: Pericles and 12th Night. We loved both performances, and particularly loved the enthusiasm of the performers. The performers are students at the University of Texas, and this is an academic course during the summer where students study an dperform Shakespeare's plays. The director, Professor James Lochlin, has great credentials: MA... More

We visited on a rainy Friday with a group of friends fora group tour that was supposed to be docent led of two houses. After a pit stop at the conference center we went over to the McGregor house which showed 1860's Texas version of Greek Revival style house that was built as a dog trot. The docent's discussion of... 16 of us had reserved a 10:30 am tour to see. 2 houses. One we did see but Beth said we could not go upstairs! It was not barred and the stairs were typical stairs. One lady went up so we all followed. We did not see the 2nd house as a bit of an attempt was made to put... More

Call the Winedale Historical Center to book a visit with a docent to get tons of interesting information. Our tour guide, Barbara, did an outstanding job. Even if I only remember a portion of the information she doled out, it was a great learning experience. We toured both the Lewis home and the McGregor homes and the barn. The homes... More

I want to go see it again. They put a lot of work into it and the shop is cute with many good items. Learn a bit of Texas History by walking around the grounds and reading the information.

Used to attend "Eeyore's birthday party here back in the late70's. The girls still remember it! Round Top is a cool little town. Also, they have live Shakespeare there, too. Would love to go back :)

I attended the German-Texan Society Conference here. It is a nice, country setting not far out of Round Top, TX. We were able to run out to see the Nassau Plantation easily and it is close to Frelsburg, TX and other historical areas. Peter Pieper and his son, my ancestor Anton Pieper had much history nearby.
