I took my 6-year-old there because I wanted something fun and educational. She had fun, and so did I. It was so interesting to see the spring in crystal clear water. The guide was a student from the University, she was knowledgeable and friendly. The place seemed to be run by all students, and they were all nice and polite.... More

We took our grandkids here over spring break. It was busy, but not at all crowded. The kids absolutely loved the glass bottom boat ride. We all enjoyed the small aquarium. Definitely worthwhile.

No information given thru the website & good luck getting anyone to awnser the phone! We bought passes for 4, one of us needed accessibility... the wheelchair doesn't fit on the boat. That information would've been awesome to know before we spent the $$$!

Came out here in the early 90's on a school field trip. I was mesmerized with the glass bottom boats alone. Under water mermaids, "Ralph," the swimming pig, the tower and the old hotel. Can I say nostalgic? So today, we brought our children to experience the glass bottom boats. I recommend the 45 minute tour. Budget friendly. If your... More

Spring Lake, formerly Acquarena Springs, is the beating heart of San Marcos. An incredible natural resource right in the middle of town adjacent to Texas State University. The Meadows Center is focused on ecology and the preservation of this incredible site. For 12,000 years, the springs that create Spring Lake have been inhabited by indigenous peoples and modern man. That... More

Having visited when this was Aquarena Springs as a child in the 1970's, I was very interested in seeing this area today as it is being returned to its native habitat. The glass bottom boat ride is a must and the highlight of the time you will spend at the center. The glass bottom boats are the same ones used... More

We have been mesmerized by the glass bottom boats for years. Knowledgeable, interesting and friendly college students lead these tours with lots of infor6about origins of the area, history, ecology, wildlife, geography. Center also houses aquarium where visitors can see endangered species and river info.

Only six adults on our tour; the water was perfectly clear and we could see the springs bubbling up from underground, as well as many fish. Our guide was very informative, and we walked the boardwalk afterwards.
