Ila Loetscher, the "Turtle Lady of South Padre Island", originally formed our organization to save the Kemp's ridley sea turtle in 1977. Now we are a sea turtle hospital with a mission to rehabilitate and release any injured sea turtles, increase awareness concerning their safety and habitat, and assist with conservation efforts for all sea turtle species. We are funded by donations, grants and gift shop proceeds-- For rehabilitated sea turtle and hatchling release text message notifications, please see our website membership page. See you at Sea Turtle, Inc.!

My children liked this activity, but its essentially an outdoors venue (sort-of covered), and not for cold days. The tanks and displays are journeyman's work, but are educational. This is not a destination - but rather one place to visit on South Padre. The environmentally...More

We were there when it was very cold and they were rescuing the turtles from the bay and the gulf since they were getting hyperthermia from the cold. A great talk given by the staff while we visited..

I love what this company does. The presentation was good, the turtles that you can see in the tanks are well cared for and most wouldn't be able to live on their own.

We very much enjoyed seeing the injured sea turtles. Being from the Midwest, we never think about this endangered species and all the hardships they endure to stay alive.
