Ila Loetscher, the "Turtle Lady of South Padre Island", originally formed our organization to save the Kemp's ridley sea turtle in 1977. Now we are a sea turtle hospital with a mission to rehabilitate and release any injured sea turtles, increase awareness concerning their safety and habitat, and assist with conservation efforts for all sea turtle species. We are funded by donations, grants and gift shop proceeds-- For rehabilitated sea turtle and hatchling release text message notifications, please see our website membership page. See you at Sea Turtle, Inc.!

My wife and I arrived around 1:45pm on April 4th. It was a misty rain day, and it seemed to be very busy on this day. I had called and checked on the Turtle feeding schedule, which they said was around 3pm. So we timed...More

Sea Turtle, Inc, was possibly my favorite part of my entire trip to South Padre. Getting to see these beautiful creatures and all the work they do for them was so inspirational.

This location has large kiddie pools to view the turtles from above. A few have windows lower so you can crouch down and see them at eye level. There are steps for smaller children to be able to see. Knowledgeable and helpful staff walk around...More

It was not well organized as an attraction, but more as a research center. But then again it is a research center -primarily. The new buildings add some to the center entertainment aspect, but still do not add what I would say is worth or...More

Those that are complaining that it is a rescue center and not a tourist attraction, obviously did not do their homework before visiting. Their brochure and online information clearly states what their mission is. That being said....it is a small place that focuses on rehabing...More

This is more of a "rescue center" than a tourist attraction. I am sure they do great work with the turtles. With that said we really didn't get to see many turtles and as a whole there isn't much to see. With that said the...More

We really enjoyed seeing the turtles close up! Loved the booklets you could read to learn more about each animal.

See injured turtles and listen to presentations. If you like turtles, a must see. No admission charge but donations accepted.
