Drove out to Devils Garden and Dry Fork in a Toyota Corolla.. it was bumpy but we made it! And it was well worth it! Both stops were crazy beautiful and offered some awesome hiking experiences. While a high clearance vehicle may have been helpful, it definitely wasn't necessary for this portion of the road. We also camped just off... More

Road becomes impassable in rain. 4 WD recommended beyond Dance Hall Rock, even in the dry. High clearance VERY helpful.

This is such a great road. Devil's garden was a great place to watch the sunrise. We loved it so much we came back the next day to see it again. Spooky gulch was great. We tried to see Sunset Arch and ended up wandering around the desert but we were not disappointed. All the views were pretty outstanding.

I think Hole In The Rock Road is passable in dry weather for 2 wheel drive high clearance vehicles. We only drove the first 15 miles of this road on our way to Devil's Garden, so behind that I can't comment on the road. During our trip, I did see people driving ordinary cars. They were going slow. It's not... More

This road defines "washboard" and will be best for vehicles equipped for a rough road. It is OK for small autos if you drive slow and dont mind being dusteD by pickups and jeeps roaring by in defiance of conditions. Many attractions of natural features worth a lost hubcap or two.

The views along the road are spectacular. Much of the road is covered in washboard and will shake a car to bits. The last 5 - 10 miles the road gets rough and a good high clearance SUV is recommended. At the end of the road is Lake Powell and well worth the climb down 800+ feet for a swim!

This is a long and windy road that takes about 90 minutes to complete , beautiful views but road is narrow and scary to drive.

Washboard all the way and many big dips. God bless the Toyota Camry rental for making it. Ideally a high vehicle (like big pick up truck or SUV) is ideal. Parked and walked last mile to trail as that road is even more messed up.

This might be a bit too washboard-y but the drive is worth it if you are into scenery, slot canyons, bouldering, silence, solitude (sometimes), and just jaw dropping stuff.

Hole in the Rock Road has many places to stop and hike, but if you go past 18 (not a mile marker, just one of the numbers that we did not understand) and are in a car, you may hit what the locals call "quicksand" and become stuck. Going to Devil's Garden is not a problem for cars and a... More
