I've driven this twice down to the Wire Pass trail head to hike the Wave. It's 8 miles to that trail head and, while the road is badly rutted, in dry times it is passable by a high clearance vehicle. It is very scenic. I also drove up it from highway 89A to go to White Pocket and that's also... More

Just drove this road last week to the Buckskin TH. It was dry but a large RV was stuck in the sand at the Buckskin Gulch wash. When dry cars can drive this road but high clearance is advisable.

What an Adventure! I was with Dreamland Safari heading to white pockets. It had rained the day before so I was glad to be a passenger on this trip. The road was muddy on the way in but somewhat better heading home. The scenery is spectacular.

I drove to Wire Pass Trailhead on Oct 17, 2016. It hadn't rained for a week before this day and the road was dry and smooth. I made it to the trailhead with a Kia Rio without any problems

Last year we were on this road to Wire Pass and almost bounced to death. There were so many deep (up to 14") ruts and exposed boulders that it took double the amount of time to get where we were going. This year, however, even though the first part of October was very rainy, it was entirely different. It had... More

headed to the buckskin wash trailhead. hiked 2 miles up the wash and found amazing rock formations! Had the place to ourselves... lots to do and see up this road despite not getting Wave permits. Now, it IS an unimproved road-- you will need high clearance and if it's rained? don't even try it.

This is a dirt road that can take you to Bucksin Gulch, the Wave, White Pocket & more. They're awesome destinations and you can make some bits of the road in a normal car (not sure how but you can). But do yourself a favour & rent a guide with or rent an ATV for this drive, especially if you... More

Be careful when accessing this famous dirt road. Street vehicles will NOT make it, use a guide much safer, dont get caught out...it could cost you your life!!

Like most dirt roads in Southern Utah this road is rough, washboard effect and subject to flooding. The Northern end is much rougher than the southern end. If you are going to sites on the southern end it is best to take the paved road to the southern end rather than entering from the northern end. The northern end is... More
