Nice shortish walk, best to do after 5pm out of the heat. Trail signs seemed to drop off towards the end so we went slightly off course

This drive was an experience! Get close to the majestic scenery. Rough going, so look out for dips and pits. There were pull-outs along the way, with some vendors

Beautiful way to experience sunrise across the valley! Trail was a challenge to locate at times but worth the effort. Ran out of time before we made it around the mitten but got close! Beautiful hike/walk! Take water and wear good hiking shoes. Just spectacular...More

Loved this walk. Mostly flat or undulating except for the beginning/end. We did it mid afternoon so it was very hot but still manageable. Take lots of water and cover up from the sun as there is hardly any shade.

Done this trail twice now. Last time we kinda rushed it but this time took a bit more time and enjoyed it a lot better. You get a better view and feeling of the area doing the walk. Not overly difficult on the loop, 3.3mls,...More

This is the only trail accessible without a Navajo guide. It goes into the valley and then loops around the East Mitten. I did it about 3 hours after sunrise. It was good, but would have been better in better light (and less heat).

We took a sunrise hike on Wildcat Trail. A great time me to drink in the serenity and beauty of Monument Valley at a much cooler temp. The hike is relatively easy with the only challenge being the sandy hills on the way back. Bring...More

This is a mostly flat easy trail. The hardest part is walking out up trough the sand dune, not bad. The trail brings you up close to the valley floor and the life you can't see from the rim. A lot of the plant life...More

Flat trail for the most part. What goes up must come down. When you start the trail, you'll be walking down a sandy slope...you'll have to walk up that on the way back. It's not that bad...you may have to take a few breathers. At...More

This is the only trail visitors can go on unaccompanied by Native guides. It's about 3.5 miles long or so and goes around the Mitten formation that's closest to the hotel. Except for getting to and from the campground/trail start, it's pretty flat. Sand and...More

It depends on temperature. There is no shade on this trail. We did at sunrise which was cooler, no one on trail and beautiful as sun hit the monuments.

Park anywhere in the lot where the various tours gather (or I think there is a small dirt parking area at the trailhead. The trailhead is just past where the dirt loop road into Monument Valley starts (this is just before... More

This is a great trail. I think doing part of the trail is good! Doing any trail, part or all, is good! It is sandy in a few parts. I hiked in trail running shoes and was fine. Enjoy your hike but please take plenty of water!!
