We went with 3 families and kids ages 2-14. Silver Lake is our favorite state park. The lake is clean and safe. You can rent a bunch of different types of boats. The facilities are clean and adequate for the number of campers. The sites are big and private. We had a total blast even though it rained on the... More

I pass by the Lake every day. Every day there's a beautiful sight you didn't see the day before…because of the weather and the wild life….it's simply one of Vermont's most wonderful places. Today, sitting on the Porch of the Barnard General Store, I saw a flock of ducks come in for a landing along with a Red Tail Hawk….the... More

We camped here for a weekend and although we still enjoyed the company we kept the campground was disappointing. There is absolutely no privacy because you're packed in with the other campers like sardines. The campground was small and our spot was pinned against a chain linked fence across the street from someone's house and a graveyard. The road was... More

My daughter (under 10 years old) and I got there right at the opening bell at 10am! It was a beautiful Saturday with blue skies and it was maybe 75 degrees all day. We rented a 2 person kayak for 2 hours and literally went around the entire perimeter of the lake in about 1.5 hours. They provided free life... More

Lovely spot on Silver Lake-beach, picnic areas, ample parking, changing facilities, snack bar, water craft rentals...what more could you want?

This was our first visit to Silver Lake. The area was very clean. There was ample parking, and shady areas to sit, and have a picnic. There were picnic tables, outdoor grills in a nice shady area. The beach itself was very clean. The changing areas were private compared to changing areas at some lakes in Mass. They also had... More

Silver Lake State park is a great little park tucked away on Silver Lake in Barnard Vermont. The park has a campground and a beautiful beach as well as a snack bar. Next to the snack bar there is canoe, kayak, and pedal boats available for rent. The beach is clean, and the lake is small and usually only has... More

After a day of driving in the area, we bought sandwiches at the Barnard General Store and drove into the park - paid the nominal fee. We ate a picnic table and then sat in the grass to watch folks on boats and in the water. After a while we ventured in to the water. The lake water is cold,... More

You can just pull over on the side of the road and swim or kayak or paddle board or canoe or fish. Lovely spot in the middle of town
