This monument marked the spot where the NH regiment came to the assistance of the VT green mountain men in August 1777 to cut off the red coats' supply line, leading to their defeat at Saratoga a few weeks later (more or less...) This monument is easy to drive to and has a nice grassy area for children to run... More

We were there in July our first visit. Beautiful trip up through the mountains. The monument you can't miss seeing; it's taller than the trees and buildings in Bennington. There is a lot of information given about the battle. Plus, there is a "moose" statue, with the body painted with local scenes. There was a visitor center, but we just... More

Nearly skipped a visit here but fitted it in on our way back to New York. So glad we did it. The views are just amazing and the site has some awesome history

The area around the obelisk is truly enchanting. It's like going back in time. Will visit it again when I have more time.

Being able to go up in the monument and up the elevator is amazing. Very interesting to read the history of the monument, it's construction, and the reason around it being built. Very fortunate to have this piece of history a open to the public.

All told, this is as good a battle monument as one might hope for. Lovely view too. But it's a battle monument! ... Come on!

Always fun to go up in the elevator to see the surrounding area. It is particularly nice when the fall colors are full. Sometimes the stairs are open.

Impressive monument in a lovely circular park. We missed riding the elevator to the top as they close it late October, but I bet the view is amazing. Late fall colors were lovely....

OK maybe $5 is a bit steep (no pun intended !) to get to the top of this monument but it us worthwhile when you get up there and see the gorgeous view. It was a bit hazy that day we were up and had it just recently stopped raining but the sun peeped out a few times - I... More

It's hard not to miss this monument as you're driving through town. We happened to stop just as a tour group was getting back to their bus. We did't go up, but we did buy a few souvenirs from the shop. The workers in the shop were very nice and helpful.
