We drove for hours to get here, and it was so worth it. "Beautiful" isn't an accurate description! It was very, very windy and cold, but some of my kids braved it and stepped into the lake. The stones in the lake were amazing through...More

Enjoyed drive along lake. Beautiful with cliffs along 1 side. Beaches north and south ends. Suggest taking hwy 5 and 5a coming from south than west back to interstate on north end.

Easy parking.... people friendly, beautiful scenic views, nice hiking trails, not really any fish to be concerned about, if afraid of fish(hint, hint: which I am), can go out pretty far without water going over head, not too cold on nice days, and fun to...More

Have seen it from many angles and love each one! Driving along, sitting at the beach or from Mount Pisgah. Magical!

You might catch a glance of Willoughby gap from the top of Burke Mountain or from afar but until you arrive there, you won't capture it's magnificence. Driving the winding road along the lake takes concentration and focus. It will be a challenge to stop...More

We visited Lake Willoughby to attend a wedding and were astounded at the beauty of the lake. The description of "fjord-like" was very accurate. The air was clean and a welcome change from the heat and humidty of the south. The water was cold and...More

This lake has to be one of my favorite places to go. It's secluded and depending on where you are on the lake, there are not a lot of people around. The views make it better. We will definitely come back!

Like everyone says, the scenery is spectacular. The dramatic vistas change with the lighting and the weather. If you have the pleasure of overnighting lakeside, there is nothing as haunting as the loons calling each other up and down the lake.
