We were fortunate to meet Jud and have the opportunity to visit with him for a good length of time. We are from the Southwest and have been interested in Indian art, history and culture for decades and have knowledge of the tribes and art of the West and Northwest. My wife and I are, alas, very uneducated beyond the... More

The work of Jud Hartmann is outstanding and if you are lucky you get to meet the artist (unless he is at his gallery in Maine) who specializes in pieces that depict Native Americans.

It feels like the sculptures he made brought back Native American culture for that moment I was there. The statues are very life like and being surrounded by them made the experience feel immersive. The highlight of the experience was being able to talk to artist himself! What a treat! He is a genuinely nice guy who is very down... More

We stopped for a look at Jud's work after being recommended by a friend. The gallery is packed with his amazing bronzes of east coast native americans, along with a really helpful narrative. We had a brief chat with Jud who explained a number of his pieces. Very worth a visit.

This gallery is a MUST SEE if you are anywhere near Grafton, any season but summer when the artist moves to his Maine home and gallery. If you are fortunate, you will be able to watch Mr. Hartmann apply his remarkable skills to a work-in-progress, as we were privileged to do. As other reviewers have explained, he is truly generous... I met Jud Hartmann at a cross country ski facility. He helped me up after I fell and gave me some lessons on how not to fall. Had a great conversation about his art and sculptures. So talented and interesting. If you have the opportunity to stop in, you won't be disappointed!

This place has to be experienced to believe it. The artist, Jud Hartmann makes brass sculptures of Eastern states Native Americans. Most native American sculpture is from the west. He is self taught, and while you are there he will explain the making process and you may see him 'in action' working on his latest project. Each piece has a... More

As magnificent as Jud is as a sculptor, he is equally accomplished as an historian whose narrative is expressed beautifully both through his hands, his heart and his eloquent explanations. His knowledge of the Woodland Indians of the Northeast, their habits, lifestyles, even personalities is encyclopedic. Coupled with his personal love of Lacrosse, and the game's origins within the tribes... More

We stopped in at the Jud Harmann Gallery while in Grafton, VT and it was a highlight of our time in Vermont. His work is amazing; the sculptures' express such emotion, movement and realism that you have to touch them to believe its bronze. Even more impressive and interesting is talking with the artist! He has a passion for the... More
