First stop Grafton and the Grafton Cheese Company facilities. Established in 1892 as the Grafton Cooperative Cheese Company and restored in the 1960s with the help of the Windham Foundation, Grafton's cheddar is synthetic and hormone-free and made mostly from Jersey cow milk from Vermont family farms. We press our noses to the glass and watch great vats of milk... More

We had a great time here! We visited during a cheese tasting and loved them all, especially the sage cheese. They also have all sorts of great souvenirs like maple and wine. They also allow visitors to see in to where the cheese is made, definitely a great stop in VT!!

Love everything about this place. Excellent location on the way to and from skiing at Stratton. Love the staff - friendly, knowledgable and seems truly happy to work there. And then there is the cheese, from the good old predictable cheddar of all ages to some of the more interesting cheeses from various cheesemaking artisans. Many of the cheeses are... More

You can view cheese-making in process here, as well as an informative video. However, their delicious cheese cannot be purchased at this location, but instead at the nearby Grafton Village Market, the Brattleboro Co-Op, Brattleboro's "Grafton Village Cheese" shop and several other local outlets -- as well as on line, thank goodness! Especially love their aged cheddar and Bismark!

The people in Vermont know their cheese, and those in Grafton excel at cheddar. The shop offers samples of most all of their cheeses, meats and condiments, so you can experiment and discover a new obsession. Their 6 year cheddar (which comes about usually by accident) is the sharpest cheddar I've ever tasted. It puts all other cheddar to shame.... More

Make this a stop on your cheese tour and stock up on a great variety of Grafton cheeses. We went to watch a batch of Grafton being made at the factory right up the road first and then made our choices at the shop. Great tasting samples of the cheese varieties! Just make sure that people are being hygienic when... More

It was a snowy day, the roads were slow and messy, and we were traveling through Vermont...cheese time! We stopped off in Brattleboro which is a real cute town, particularly covered in snow. The Grafton Cheese Co. is an old-fashioned looking farm but inside it's very high-tech and they crank out the cheese. The folks in the store are real... More

This is such a great place to visit if you are a cheese mouse! There are many kinds of cheese that you can taste, plus you can see how the cheese is made. The facility is very clean and well maintained and has things to look at in the lobby.

I had a very nice shopping experience there and picked up an interesting assortment of oils, cheeses, chutneys and butters. Their specialty cheese selection is very good and they have knowledgable staff behind the cheese counter willing to let you sample before you buy. (Some of these cheeses are $25/pound so one would expect that). I found Kate to be... More

Many cheeses as you would expect, but also a great selection of cured meats, bread, jams, dips, maple products and Vermont knick-knacks.
