The Hyde Log Cabin and the one room schoolhouse are shown together on the same site, although they are separate buildings. This is a small historical attraction, but really interesting nonetheless. The female docent is VERY knowledgeable and friendly. She told us that she made the period dress she was wearing, and gave us some great background on clothing of the... More

I understand that this site has now been moved to a new location by the local historical society. It used to be right off the highway and if you timed it right it was open for tours. There was also an old school house next to it and displays of local artifacts.

Meeting the knowledgeable, local volunteer docent was worth the stop. She was in period dress and knew everything. If you like to see what life was really like for the early settlers, this is worth a peek.

We spent a good deal of time in the cabin and also checked out the schoolhouse, and tool shed. The hours are limited, so be sure to check that... More

Wasn't open when I rode by but nice from the exterior. Hopefully can see it next time. Great cows in a pasture with views of the lake and mountains behind up the street.

Vermont has done its best to preserve this historic attraction. If the Open flag is up, stop in. Guide is well versed in the local lure and will make your visit come alive. Tell her I said Hi Mom!
