Most size boats are permitted on this lake. The water is cool due to the great depths. The lake was formed by damming up Smith River. The Corp of Engineers tend to the dam and surrounding lake property. Offers year round camping including tent camping on Deer Island if you wish to boat in. Short hiking trails with a more... More

We took our grandson to the museum at Philpott Lake, viewed the dam and the boating dock. He had never seen a dam or a boating dock.

If you love to walk or run, then Philpott Lake is a great place to visit and get your walking or running in for the day. It has lovely views of the Philpott Lake and Dam all year round. It is a great place for picnics as well. I have also seen someone taking wedding photos and getting married there... More

We lucked out and got a nice spot. We had a lake view, very clean and maintained. Had a lots of people there, but they were nice and obeyed the rules. Dallas and his wife runs the place and they are very nice and helpful. Only problem is they are booked up forever.....but that tells you what type of place... More

My best friend & I took our kids (ages 10, 7, 5, & 2) to the swimming area & spent the day. It was very well kept, affordable, and sectioned off to keep the children away from the deep areas of the lake. Our kids always look forward to visits to Philpott Lake!

Like others have said on weekends it is full with locals. Noticed during the day the locals had lots of visitors in their... More

More rain as we set up camp in the dark at Goose Point on Philpott Lake and dried out from the morning's storm 300 miles away. We awoke to a gorgeous lakefront campsite! It rained on and off throughout the day but we managed to get most things dry... and had a very productive hunting day at the Fairy Stone... More

This was our first time at Philpott Lake and we loved every minute of it! We stayed at the group campgrounds with friends from NC and VA. The air is much cooler here at this lake and the views are breathtaking! The lake is great for fishermen, boaters and those of us with PWC's. It is not very crowded, even... More
