Great hike

A great hiking or biking trail. The trail is waterfront all the way. There are benches with a water view along the way.

I was there all week for a Cub Scout Summer Camp. This park was created at an old Nike Missile site; hence the name. The park is located outside the Town of Smithfield in Isle of Wight County's Carrollton area. It is a few miles from Route 17 / James River Bridge area. Half of the park is ball fields.... More

Where is the history? Saw the flyer on this and looked interesting. Little did we know it was a community park. Flyers are misleading. Unless you are a community member and buying tickets for the fish fry, don't go.

In late March God granted us with AMAZING seventy degree weather in beautiful Southeastern VIRGINIA! This beautiful park was the icing on our cake of a great adventure! My friend from North Carolina was thrilled to learn about the Nike Missile site and it's historical significance. This park has something for everyone and is a hidden jewel many people don't... Not much to see. We expected some historic plaqards but not much there. There should be a brochure with driving tour made available.

Absolutely love taking our children to the very beautiful Carrollton Nike Park! There are 3 options of playsets, 2 different swing areas, a skate park, baseball&soccer fields, fishing pier, hike/bike trails and a full bathroom area with drinking fountain. Easily the best in the area!!

Fears of bombings from the USSR sparked the United States’ creation of a Nike surface-to-air missile system ready to protect the Hampton Roads area and the many military bases located there. The Carrollton Nike Missile Battery was operational by 1954 and was one of eight bases that made up the Norfolk Defense Area. Once housing missiles to wage a counter-attack,... More

This sort of strange park is on land that was a former Nike Ajak control site. Some of the original buidlings for administration and housing, to include family housing, are still there. The park has several different playing fields for soccer, base/softball, and tennis. There is a playground and some walking trails. For the geocacher there is a wide variety... More

This is an Isle of wite county recreational area. They have ball fields and open areas available for soccer and other events. They have a skate board area, little ones playground, grilling equipment, picnic tables, a fishing pier and two large restroom facilities. Parking is normally adequate and is a superb place for carrolton and smithfield residents to gather for... More
