A great place to check out the woods, identify some of the flora, and generally have a good four mile stroll, walk or jog. Even though the trail is up/down hill, the grade was not to steep.

I spent a lovely afternoon hiking up the mountain. I quickly reached a point at which my dog was no longer welcome to continue on the boarded path and so we ventured off of the path to a road less traveled and had a simply...More

The official website for the Saunders-Monticello trail says nothing about requiring you to have a ticket just to finish the walk up to Monticello. Tour or not, you are officially required to purchase a ticket ($25 in advance, marked up to $28 at the door)...More

This is a nice walking trail. They have walkways built up, so it is handicapped accessible and stroller friendly. Nice little pond as well. When the weather is nice, it will be very crowded. The biggest parking lot is off Rt. 20, but even that...More

This is a walking trail, not a hike, though smaller, more trail-like trails come off the main gravel-surfaced path that's about 10 feet wide. The elevated wooden walkways are pleasant. I gave this trail three stars for two reasons. One is the omnipresent highway noise...More

Our family loves walking here every weekend. The trail is well maintained. Scenery is very nice. Safety is not a concern here. You can see wildlife especially when there aren't many people around. Parking is very limited for the amount of people that use the...More

I'm a regular, visiting the trail sometimes up to 3 times per week for my run. The main trail is fairly wide, paved with gravel and sections of board-walk that winds through the trees. You see people jogging, walking, walking with strollers, biking, couples, groups,...More

The Saunders- Monticello Trail is only a few minutes from our house, so we go there often. It's shaded and just beautiful any time of the year. We always plan on having lunch at the Monticello cafeteria - Monticello being the endpoint of the trail....More

The Saunders-Monticello Trail is a beautifully maintained and well-used cinder and boardwalk trail through the woods. The trail begins just off the intersection of Route 20 and Route 53, just south of Route 64. There are two parking lots, one along Route 53, just after...More

Steady slight grade. Lots of shade and well maintained path. Benches along the way. Once you start the trail usually need to turn around to head back as no mid trail exit points that I can recall.
