all about fried chicken

Super tasty, country fried chicken and a variety of sides...all you can eat. Not low calorie but really good.

Michie Tavern is really two places (restaurant and historical building/gift shop) joined into one large place. I will review the restaurant portion of the two. Each place has a separate entrance. As you prepare to enter the restaurant portion (which is what people think of when you say Michie Tavern) you are greeted by a person in colonial garb. Once... More

We have eaten here several times. We are never disappointed on the quality and quantity of food. Setting is an old colonial tavern with many things to see.

We had a business retreat in the area and Michies Tavern hosted our business luncheon. The food was spectacular as well as the service and ambiance. Wonderful place to visit for any occasion.

Near Thomas Jefferson's Monticello. 18th century southern fare buffet of fried chicken and other delectables. The food was delicious and served by staff in period attire. 2nds (and 3rds) are bought around by the servers. Themed shops are housed in restored structures and meal includes a self guided tour of tavern life of the 1700's.

Excellent, don't miss out on the fried chicken and sit in the old tavern! We broke up our day visiting Thomas Jeffersons Monticello by having lunch here. Best decision.

We had just been to Thomas Jefferson's home at Monticello & thought we would try the Michie Tavern for lunch. We received a very warm welcome even before entering. This place will take you back to 1776 if you close your eyes. The food choices a plentiful & you must have a pint with your lunch.

Michie Tavern is just one of the many gems hidden in the Virginia countryside - one that is highly recommended to go to dine in before or after touring Monticello or Ashlawn - or just because! Their infamous buffet features the star of succulent fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans as well as delicious, refreshing iced tea served in pewter... More

A fun look at what life might have been like hundreds of years ago. Lots of interesting local wines to taste and purchase, as well as local crafts on display.

Immediately upon arriving at the Tavern we were greated by a hostess in period costume. The buffet provided a fair variety of choices of arguably historical relevance. While I'm not a tomato fan, the stewed tomatoes were great as was the fried chicken! The wait staff's period costumes as well as the fireplace fire made for a memorable experience.
