We;ve gone to Carter Orchard many times and always enjoy it. They have an outdoor seating restaurant, a fun country store with local products and we always go for fruit picking. It is a drive back from the main road and not paved for alot of the way. But worth the effort. There is a beautiful setting for sunsets.

Carter Mountain Orchard has great views and is near Monticello but I find it pricey and catering to a tourist crowd. There are other pick-your-own orchards around Charlottesville that I find less crowded, just as tasty and less expensive.

First, not much activity at the orchard due to time of year but an excellent winery called Prince Michel. You can taste their wines or purchase some and snacks and sit on their deck overlooking beautiful vineyards. It was a very pleasant afternoon for us. Would like to go back when the apples are ready.

We didn't stay here long because we actually had gotten a wrong address but it was a pleasant surprise for the time we were there. Nice little mountain top shop with great views. My kids loved the donuts.

Go here to buy fresh fruits and such. Sometimes it is worth it to pick so that you can have the highest quality fruit.

This orchard is located near Thomas Jefferson's Monticello (I saw the sign for it while driving to Monticello). I was hoping to get some apple cider, but unfortunately it wasn't the season for it (they did have peach cider, though). However, I did have a good time taking pictures- the orchard is on top of a mountain, which gives good... More

A very nice spot to visit while in Charlottesville. Close to town and to Monticello, the drive up the mountain brings you to a large barn at the very top with splendid views of the city and surrounding area. The structures are rustic but pleasant. We enjoyed a flight of the hard ciders, which we found to be be quite... More

We often take visitors to Carter Mountain, it is a beautiful orchard and vineyard with tasting room. It is super family and pet friendly. A variety of food/snack items can be purchased and enjoyed while sitting on the deck. Check the Web for special Thursday evening music events. Picking fruit is always fun, but it is an extra treat to... More
