Our family of 7 enjoyed visiting Henricus. You will see a representation of the English village built after the colony at Jamestown failed and settlers moved up river to Henricus. You will also see a representation of the Powhatan Indian village. These representations of the villages have tried to be historically accurate. Guides in period costume will tell you about... More

We enjoyed riding our bikes on the trail with our 5 year old grandson. After our ride, we toured the historic village. The cast wore clothing of the period and gave very interesting information about the different areas of the village. The park is located on the James River. We also had a picnic lunch which we enjoyed.

First time visitor. I learned about the area and the gift shop employee even suggested places to visit and dining in the area. Would definitely go again.

Very nice representation on the original settlement. Knowledgeable guides in period clothing. It was early in the year but they were already working the ground to get crops in.

My wife and I visited Henricus this past weekend and throughly enjoyed ourselves! The grounds are superb, we started off in the Indian village where the guide was tanning a buffalo hide. He welcomed us to the park and filled us with vast knowledge of the tanning process and local Indian tribes. We then entered the Fort where our guide... More

Wasnt sure what to expect. We wasnt sure when we were driving because the road we were on looked like an industrial area. We went o. Gift shop to buy tickets and we watched a short film on the fort. As we were walking through there was men in period clothes worki g on there trades. One was working on... More

This destination is a bit hidden. However, if you go, once is NOT enough! We enjoy hiking, biking and picnicking. Multiple dirt paths that are appropriately maintained and zig zag parallel to the River. We utilize this park regularly. There is also a small fort and souvenir store on premises.

This is a great historical park with buildings, artifacts and reenactors dressed in period costume to explain this 1600's village and how the English lived and coexisted with the Powhatan Indian tribes.... there is also a small recreation of an Indian village as well as a beautiful walk out to the James River where you are very likely to see... Past train tracks, a power plant and cornfields and voila! a great lesson in the early colonial development of our country in Chesterfield County, 1611 to be exact. This is well worth a drive from Richmond. An native American village and an English settlement sit side-by-side with well trained guides to inform you of the history. This is a hidden... More

This is a great place to take the kids for a history lesson on the area. The park has displays showing how the indians would be lived in the area over 500 years ago, the early english settlers and the civil war role of the area. Go on Publick Day and it is free,
