We were in town visiting relatives for the New Year and decided to take part in the First Day Hike offered every January 1st in Virginia State Parks. A very friendly and helpful ranger greeted us at the welcome gate - she gave us a highlighted map with suggestions and many tips to enjoy the day. Her enthusiasm was contagious!... More

I hadn't been to PP in years but went for their Halloween festivities for kids this year and it reminded me of how much I love it there and how much we've been missing. Very friendly staff, clean and lots to do! Highly recommend for all year round activities! Camping is a blast there, though I haven't been in years!

Our 2nd stop of our camping adventure. We stayed overnight at Pocahontas State Park. We were able to drive around the park and pick our site as they do not take reservations for specific site number. Most site are treed however there is a section with no tree, which I would not recommend in the summer months as it is... More

Visited for the first time this past Sunday. A very enthusiastic ranger greeted us at the entrance, gave us a map and a couple recommendations on what to see. Hiked a couple of trails (and there are many, many more hiking and biking trails to see). The CCC (Civilian Conservation Corp) museum is in a CCC building constructed in the... More

We rented 2 cabins next to each other - there are only a total of 6 cabins at the park. The cabins were new-like and very clean! They have 2 sets of bunk beds, a table and 6 chairs, a ceiling fan w/ light, plenty of windows and a really cute porch. It was like a luxury, rustic-style cabin! We... More

Charming and quiet little get away. Lots of privacy between camp sites. Wonderful trails and great spot for kids to run and play
