Gorgeous park, family friendly, clean, many trails to hike, and even a lighthouse to climb for fantastic views!

Bring bugspray! The hike to the lighthouse was buggy. But worth the views at the top. Saw some ponies, but they kept far away from traffic. Looking forward to our next visit.

Chincoteague National Refuge is a great place to visit. Lot's of birds, scenery and wild ponies. We rode the bike paths and drive through. Frankly, I don't think I would walk through in August because the flies and mosquitoes will pounce on you. It may...More

The wildlife here is abundant, wild ponies as the main attraction. The were numerous seabirds and small game (the local giant squirrels).

This area has some nice, short nature trails for all abilities. If you venture out anywhere in this area though, don't forget the bug spray.

August is definitely not the time to go walking in the refuge. We've been at other times of the year and the refuge is definitely worth the trip. You can still enjoy it by going to the beach or taking a boat tour in order...More

This is a mixed review. The lighthouse will be a separate review. Pay the $20 and then hold onto your pass. You can use it at the MD side of the park too! Seriously it's worth it just for the beach. We saw a few...More

Wildlife and beauty at every turn. Just watch out for the mosquitos. Ponies, birds, sea life, hiking, swimming, beaching.

Hi, from our observation there appeared to be lifeguards during certain time frames but it's probably best to call the park. Also, it was a very lovely site, families, with and without umbrellas, kids, young people, oldsters... More
