We just finished up a tour with Captain Shane and guide Steve and we had a wonderful time on the cruise. We saw dolphins and got up close to the horses! Steve was very knowledgeable and we really enjoyed ourselves. Highly recommend.

We realize we were extraordinarily lucky: there were two large groups of ponies grazing right on the edge of the water, one of them right in front of the lighthouse, and we were able to get close enough to get the classic Assateague photo. Because...More

My husband and I chose the 8:30am kayaking tour. We were sent via text the directions to the launch point and arrival time shortly after we booked the tour. We arrived early and our guide, Ian was already there setting up the equipment. We got...More

These tours are not cheap, but our tour guide (Frank from NJ) was excellent. The way he told us the stories kept us very interested, and we have small kids. I learned a lot about the island and how it really works... We also purchased...More

I would recommend the Pony Express Boat Tour on the Assateague Explorer. It is a comfortable boat with a very knowledgeable narrator who has lived in the island her entire life. The captain is also a native. We saw a3 herds of ponies and a...More

On a spur-of-the-moment visit to Chincoteague from Bethany Beach, we enjoyed a quiet afternoon boat ride with Assateague Explorer Wildlife Cruises. As others have noted in their reviews, the captain, Matt, arrived late. So many additional walk-on passengers showed up, that those of us already...More

We were booked on the 1:30 cruise and the passengers were all in their seats and ready to go by 1:20, but the "captain" was late and we didn't get underway under 1:45. As an experienced boater myself I was appalled at the way we...More
