I just love this park! I stayed in Cabin #1 in early April 2017. Cabins do not look like much outside, but they are gorgeous inside! Do not miss Tye River Overlook or the James River walk!

We rented a cabin for the weekend. We have stayed at State Parks before and all the cabins at each park are the same - basic, but with all the amenities. We were with our almost 4 year old. The best part of the park...More

The Campground: We stayed one night with our 2 and 5 year old at Canoe Landing Campground site #13. All these sites are sitting right on the river with great views. Our site was a bit of a hike to the bathhouse but had no...More

Went for my sister's bachelorette weekend with several ladies. We visited a handful of local wineries, so we didn't spend much time in the park. The cabin was very clean and spacious. We cooked a few meals and spent an evening around the fire. Their...More

The park was beautiful even if the weather conditions didn't cooperate entirely. The weekend we had reserved was after substantial rain. The James River was 11-13 feet above flood stage. There were no river activities allowed. The grounds were a soaked soggy mush. We would...More

As far as tubing, can we bring our own or do we have to rent from the Livery? I understand alcohol is allowed at the campsites, but are we allowed to have a cooler with us while we tube down the river? Thanks, looking forward to our visit =)

You can use your own tubes. You can only have alcohol inside your camping equipment (RV or tent). This is a state law that prohibits public display of alcoholic beverages so it applies to floating down the river too.

Does anyone have any pics of the cabins? I rented one and would like to see what they look like. They don't have a lot of pictures on the website!
