The center piece of the park is a bridge that was constructed in the 1850s across the Appomattox. The original pedestals are still standing next to the present bridge. It is nicely kept park with available rangers to answer questions and assist. A great place...More

We've biked and walked this park a few times. Trail is straight and very easy for biking--there's a bike rental on main street in farmville. There is very little shade on this trail so spf and plenty of water was a must for us. Views...More

Note that the address Tripadvisor gives for this attraction is the MAILING address. The High Bridge is a 30-mile linear rail-trail that crosses a historically significant trestle over the Appomattox River. The trail passes through the towns of Burkeville, Farmville, Pamplin City, Prospect, and Rice....More

We rented bikes trail side in Farmville in Outdoor Adventures. The ladies there were very accommodating helping us ( grandson and I) to find a comfortable bike. Very reasonable fees for a 2 hour rental, which would have been ideal if our party of four...More

I am not sure how you missed the shorter parking lot as it is very well marked off Rt. 460 with brown signs. We also have detailed directions on our website and a link to get a Google map. Unfortunately we have no control over...More

Picked up a flyer for this tourist attraction when we went to Bear Creek Lake State Park. Whoa - what a surprise! This place is gorgeous! It has a new crushed gravel trail built over an old rail line that is flat, wide, and well-maintained....More

We went by the visitor's center, where they have a lot of information on the high bridge, including models. They told us we could drive to a parking area .9 miles away from the bridge and the walk there was totally flat. So we tried...More

Great park for biking or walking - you can easily access the bridge within walking distance if not biking the whole park from the River Road lot ($4 parking fee). Definitely worth a visit if in the area. Park staff were very friendly and informative.

this relatively new state park is built along the abandoned right-of-way of the old South Side Railroad. The state has done a good job with signs and other facilities with a dozen parking access points. The highlight is probably the old High Bridge, which is...More

Sorry I don't know of any shuttle service. Maybe uber or a taxi service might be a go to.
