A tour and hands-on experience of the lifestyle of past Mennonite and Brethern families in the valley. I had a lovely afternoon listening to the tour guides, seeing, and participating in chores required of families long ago. Would recommend a visit for any and all interested in learning such valuable tidbits of history, but would especially encourage our youth be... More

I went to the Valley Brethren-Mennonite Heriatage Center today with my daughter for the first time. We had a great time. The staff/volunteers were great. It doesn't matter what your religion is... the center is very interesting and fun for everyone!

I love bringing my kindergarten class here. They keep the children engaged with hands-on interaction. While carding wool or churning ice cream, shaking cream into butter or washing clothes on a washboard children learn about life on a farm long ago. I would highly recommend it for a family outing or a class field trip. It is enjoyable for young and... More

I'm glad we visited the Valley Brethren-Mennonite Heritage Center. The tour was educational and our tour guide made it interesting for all of us (ages 7 to 70). I was curious to learn more about the Brethren-Mennonite community and our guide answered our questions very well. I'll gladly visit again as the buildings and grounds are being refurbished.

They are refurbishing the house and a cabin on the grounds, but even so, you'll get a good sense of what living in the Valley was like at the end of the 19th and early 20th centuries. This will be of greater interest to those who have ancestor/family ties to COB and Mennonite communities.

It was a little difficult to follow the directions to get there and I almost gave up but I found it. Saw a video about the Mennonite belief system, really wanted a copy of the break-down of the Mennonite sects and brethren groups but it was only in a display. Saw a house, schoolhouse, artifacts and got some good explanations... More

Very informative exhibits, videos and interpreters. The gift shop had authentic items available for very reasonable prices.

Very attentive tour guide and a nice collection of historical and religious buildings and artifacts. Clearly a well-loved and carefully cared for place, we especially enjoyed the log cabin which is in progress.

The history of Brethren and Mennonites in the Shenandoah Valley is well preserved here. Interesting history committed to show accurate history as these two groups held fast to their convictions. Donations accepted.
