Beautiful location; good wine

I've taken a couple of trips out here for different occasions-great views and good wines. Will return.

Visited Hume Vineyard Sept 2013. The directions on the Virginia Winery Guide was misleading and confusing (as were the road-signs back at Highway 66 10-miles away); appears to try to fool the drivers into taking this arduous winding path for 10-miles into cow-poop country before they release nothing out here worth the effort. There were no Grapes and vew vines... More

Be a nice place to sit and chill and drink some wine. Take a snack and enjoy the view. Had the look of a nice European vineyard. Wine wasn't much - typical Virginia wine - overpriced and underdeveloped. Maybe in time.....

The views were wonderful the wine steward was on her first day so she knew NOTHING, but was pleasant to talk too. I like rustic but a Johnny Blue isn't rustic it's "construction worker only if I gotta". Too many wineries in Virginia to spend too much time here.

I've been to about half of the 200+ wineries, and Hume is one of my favorites, right up there with Linden, Glen Manor, and Cave Ridge. The reds are the star here. I'm bummed that the 2009 Detour is no longer available, but I'm really looking forward to the 2011 Petit Verdot. I don't understand all these attacks on the... More

The wine at Hume is some of the best we've had in Virginia, and the view is breathtaking. We loved the Voigner and the Rose! The tasting room is very rustic and learned how the building was built and salvaged from an old barn on site. Very charming. Sorry, but we also found the tasting room manager to be bossy... More

I've been to over 50 wineries in Virginia so I have a bit of experience with them. The wines at Hume are quite good..perhaps not best I have tasted but very good examples of Virginia Wine in each class. What made the experience for us, however, was our treatment by the tasting manager Mae. It was a slow day but... More

The thing that stood out to me, that brought me to review this winery most was the lovely experience I had with the tasting room manager Mae. So I was surprised when I read the precious post. The wines were delicious, the tasting room quaint, but Mae made the experience. Personally I enjoy talking with the tasting room staff. Many... More

Love the wines at Hume! The vineyard is the brainchild of a Frenchman who grew up drinking the real deal and decided to make his winemaking dream come true in Virginia. The wine and tasting experience is unpretentious and overall enjoyable. My only beef is the tasting room manager, Mae (I think that was her name). I see that she... More

This is a winery that gets it. Last November, we were coming back to Reston from an Episcopal church retreat, when we decided to branch off and visit a new winery. Imagine our surprise when we realized that the small caravan of cars branched off to Hume Winery. Entering the "recycled barn" that is the tasting room, we were greeted... More
