We had a guided visit of the battlefield during a business convention. The guides were incredibly knowledgeable and their passion in learning and teaching this particular history was very communicative. We had a one hour visit but we would have loved to have all day. Site is small and there is no visitor center but it is worth the visit... More

being a civil war buff, i had to see this place. the first time, i was snowed in and the park was closed to driving traffic. make sure you drive all the way in cuz the first parking area is about a mile from the starting location which is at least a 1/2 mile from the cemetery...no sidewalks so bring... I've passed the sign for this historic place many times but never took the time to visit. I'm glad that my wife and I finally did. It is the scene of a tremendously bloody battle of the Civil War, however, it is often overlooked. One should do some homework prior to visiting to get a clear picture of who the... More

I took the grandkids for a walk with the new puppy on a Saturday morning. It had been a while since I'd been and SO MUCH has changed. Larger, cleared, well taken care of with defined paths and hikes. Well done!! We walked down by the Potomac which was a nice treat and had some lunch. I'd highly recommend it... More

Been to most of the DC hotspots...Leesburg was next on the list. Enjoyed the trails. It is hidden behind a subdivision...but well worth the hunt. I visited on a Thursday, so no guides, but do recommend downloading the map, or taking a pick of the download as the paper copy that is available isn't a good measure to go by.... More

The battlefield has lots of nicely laid out and well marked trails with informational plaques all around. I imagine in the summer the tours given would be quite interesting.

We love this place to go hiking. We take the longer route which enable us to walk for a couple of hours. The views and surroundings are pretty and the hike is easy for a child who is use to hike or walk. It's also a great historic and cultural place to visit for a family and to take family... More

This is an outstanding (however small) battlefield and cemetery to visit / tour. It's always breathtaking to stand on hallowed ground and this small battlefield packs a mighty punch. Great overlook of the Potomac River into Maryland. Great trails and very nice markers / interpretive signage. If you go during the time of year when they give guided tours make... More

Just moving to VA from MA it's interesting to read about the "Union" and "Confederates" one of the Union from a town we lived in Mass. Bonus a deer walked toward us on the way in and during a trail hike a buck foraged while we watched. My kids where so excited! Worth the visit!

One of several US Civil War sites in the area. Short walk through the woods to the Cemetery. Story of the battle is interesting.
