The well kept cemetery honors, not glorifies its 'inhabitants.' Regardless of today's political correctness, this place allows for reflection and truly honors those who lived and fought bravely, and in many cases, died bravely, as Stonewall did. like General Jackson.

Went here to see Stonewall Jackson's grave, but there was several other important people in history buried here as well. Take a walk around. I took lots of pictures. His gravesite is magnificent. A local docent told me that people throw lemons on his gravesite,...More

Gorgeous spot on Main Street for a simple evening walk. Historic graves include that of Stonewall Jackson. Many old trees. Easy walk from nearby restaurants.

This must have been the town cemetery at the time of the Civil War. Many buried here served in the Civil War and are buried in their family plot with family members. It was later named the Stonewall Jackson Memorial Cemetery.

This cemetery located on Main St. near VMI and W&L University is worth a walk through. At the entrance is a faded, but still readable log of some notables buried here. Of course, Stonewall Jackson is the most famous, and his monument is worth pondering...More

Even without Stonewall Jackson's tomb, this graveyard is worth a visit. The Victorian-era gravestones enclosed within cast iron fencing lend to an interesting atmosphere. Well worth a visit.

Visiting just two days after Veteran's Day, I stumbled onto this cemetery while passing through the town of Lexington. Neat American flags had been placed before each grave of a veteran. Many of these were Civil War veterans, some with fascinating gravestones that mentioned the...More

What a collection of tombstones that are well maintained. Benches are placed around Jackson's Memorial. Pleasant surprise.

Just the variety of the stone work is amazing. Stonewall and his family are buried here for the history buff. One thing that would make this cemetery better would be a guided tour. Don't pass this place up.

The Presbyterian church owned the cemetery property from 1797 until 1949 when the cost of maintaining the property and reduced sales of burial plots led the church to give the property to the City of Lexington. Town Council... More

It is my understanding that it was known as Presbyterian Cemetery and was renamed for Jackson after he was buried there in 1863
