I have visited this park in the late fall through the winter time period. I go there to see Bald Eagles and other birds. I have been pretty lucky, early in the morning. They have a boat launch for those people that have a boat. There is a nice view of the Potomac River. They open up at 8 AM.... More

My husband and I took our two dogs plus a picnic here on this 78 degree day. We love the easy Bay View Trail loop and were disappointed part of it was closed due to bridge repairs. So we went partway on it, took a side trail on the right to the water and let our dogs play there in... More

A decent day trip from Washington, but just ok. Not the park's fault, but the stinky Potomac is a disappointing site. Trails are well marked and pretty easy. No wildlife, but the visitors center is nice and educational. Recommend if you want an easy getaway from the city.

Decent park close to DC. We took a long walk on the beach, which was pretty nice. Altogether nothing particularly spectacular, though.

BEAUTIFUL park! Towards the water are tons of birds, since this is near a "highway" for migratory birds. Great trails, great views, and wonderfully maintained. Make time to visit here!

This park is quiet and secluded. This time of year as the leaves are falling and changing the views of the water are clearer and during the week days most of the time you have the place to yourself . It's a great spot .

We visited this park at the end of June, 2016 and my kids fell in love with it. They spent about 3 hours digging in the sand on the banks of the Potomac. We went early in the morning and saw eagles, snakes, turtles, and other wildlife. It was so very quiet and we were the only ones there for... More

Mason Neck is a State Park on a protected peninsula loaded with wildlife and free from outside noise. I've witnessed several bird gatherings including a party of Trumpet Swans numbering near one hundred getting to know each other during this noisy event. Being mid April I suspect finding a mate was part of the agenda. There are several Parks on... More

I absolutely love this place and never get tired of coming here. Great hiking trails and a very nice bike trail. If you're looking for a great place to escape for a few hours and catch a great sunset, this is it.

Mason Neck is coveniently located a short distance from DC and just south of Fort Belvoir, VA. The drive to the park is a nice short ride, where you almost always see deer or wild turkey, and several times, I've spotted bald eagles. The park has nice walkable trails that take you along the Potomac, as well as an asphalt... More
