We had arrived early at our B&B and the owner suggested we try a nearby winery to try. The original location was closed, but we noticed a sign to "visit our neighbors at Mountain Cove." So we did. The directions are clear and the road narrows as you go. The scenery is very nice in the valley with the trees... More

This place is a little off the wine trail, but is well worth the effort to find. All of the wines were tasty and worthy of purchasing; which we did. The hostess was knowledgeable and cordial. This place is a bit rustic and feels very comfortable, not the least bit commercial. All wines are limited supply.

We were greeted at the porch and invited in to taste the wines. Lady was very pleasant and knowledgeable. Multiple bottles of wine available for tasting. Very relaxed atmosphere and a good place to sit and enjoy the scenery.

We enjoyed this winery. Our server was great. Very informative, I believe her name was Debra, sorry if I am wrong. They were having a wedding that afternoon and was cutting the grass when we drove up. We purchased a glass and sat outside and enjoyed the view and the wine. We will stop again when we are in the... Stopped here after hiking Crabtree Falls! If you are looking for a rustic, farm vineyard experience, then this vineyard hits the nail on the head. The owner gave us a free tasting on the Saturday afternoon we visited and we got a long and interesting conversation covering many topics about wine and many other topics as well! The wine was... Great wine and great location. Off the ways a bit with a 5 mile hiking trail in sight. The lady working was very friendly and hospitable. The tasting was free, however we left with 3 bottles and some jam!

the oldest of the current era of wineries- established in '79, Mountain Cove has a mid level group of wines with a remarkable setting to sit outside and enjoy a glass or a bottle with friends. Easy, relaxed, and well worth visiting.

Nelson County now has a number of winery choices but Mountain Cove needs to be the top of your list for many important reasons. The experience of Mountain Cove begins with the drive along country roads to the vineyard. While only a short drive from Route 29 just north of Lovingston the beauty of the gentle, winding roads gives the rustic... More

Visited on a whim. The gentleman serving the wine was very very knowledgable about the vineyard and had a little story for each wine. The apple wine was by far the best.

We loved our visit here for the first time. It's a beautiful setting and a small town feel that we loved. The wines were delicious and we bought two bottles to bring home and had a glass of the apple wine. We loved that it is the oldest VA winery.
