We went in a group, on a warm humid day. I would definitely recommend bringing extra water with you. Standing in line to go into the home, it would've been nice to have. The guides were fantastic in answering questions, and the view is fantastic....More

Could not find any reviews that really talked about the logistics of Mount Vernon. When you arrive, you must have a ticket to get in. I bought mine online to avoid the lines. The house tours seem to run about every 5 minutes. Although you...More

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Mt. Vernon. Wandering the beautiful grounds including garden and farm, paying our respect at their graves and the in depth museum were fantastic. The trip through the house was not as good as the tours at Monticello or Montpelier...More

If you’re traveling to DC this is worth a visit. A little out of the way but your effort will be rewarded. Take a bus from Potomac Park

The mansion and the museum are fascinating but don't leave out the gardens and the working farm down below. The 16-sided barn is a must see. So is the reconstructed slave quarters. The boat dock, built with wood from my state of Oregon, is also...More

Our group of teachers thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Mt. Vernon. You must go through security when you enter and photos are not allowed inside. You can view Washington's tomb and see the slave cemetery where there is currently an archeology dig. There are animals...More

This place was amazing. It is well preserved to the time period when George and Martha Washington walked on the land. What a history adventure for the whole family.

We went on Friday. There were plenty of visitors, but it wasn’t crowded. It was also pretty warm that day (90 degrees F).

No dress code that I saw. I would imagine that shoes and shirts are required.

As far as I know, there will be only one photo op from the boat. That would be the front of the mansion. As for the boat, I know nothing. We took the DCTrails bus tour with Charles Smith
