We took a taxi to the entrance of the park and then paid for transport to the top and a 1 1/2 kil. walk in the cloud forest. The transport was 4 x 4 which we needed going up. There is a nature centre at...More

We were the only ones in the trail. The hike is challenging 3 hours of climbing mostly steps uphill. Views cannot be beat you have lush cloud forest fumeroles and 360 views of the area. Time your arrival with the Jeep

We visited Mombacho in our small hire car. As a tip book a tour as we couldn't go all the way to the top in our car only a half way point. The tour leaves several times a day but suggest you book so you...More

Very pleasant hike. Great views of the lake and Grenada. We were able to see Volcan Masaya smoking in the distance and Laguna de Apoyo. There was a very cool cloud forest with howler monkeys. The drive up was cool, and very steep, but our...More

We had excellent guides describing the plants around the volcano. Fantastic views. Choices of 3 hikes. The easy one is really easy, the middle one (we took) was very steep, and the hard one wasn't really recommended (no more views than the middle one and...More

I had not expected to look down the mouth of a volcano especially one emitting so much smoke, but we had no choice. It is slowly developing into a tourist attraction. However, the infrastructure is still pretty primitive which adds to the charm. This I...More

Booked thru Princess. Tour said ‘strenuous’ and it was. Said it was 1 mile... it was 2-3 mi. Up and down steep banks with stair steps of varying distances, made of rock or tropical wood with wet leaves and mud that made it slippery. None...More
