The track has been closed for the past couple of years. The word is that it will not reopen. It was a very nice track and the Virginia horse community was sad to see it gone.

It's dead, bankrupt, no more...and it's right down the road. The last event that was held was a motorcycle race and that won't be coming to the downs again.. It was an ill fated endeavor from the start.

I attended the AMA Grand National motorcycle races at CD. Outstanding day at a world class property.Racing was amaxzing on the Mile, and the food and drink choices were awesome. Definitely would go back for this race.

Colonial Downs has never been operated very well. It was once a beautiful place, well kept, and beautiful building. The owners have permitted it to go down on purpose. They really never wanted to operate a race track, they just wanted to operate the off track betting parlors all over the state. They miscalculated on that badly, since the big... More

I've been visiting Colonial Downs since they opened (25 years ago). In the beginning, this track was beautiful and well-kept. However, I visited this track this past weekend (first time this year since thoroughbred racing wasn't held there), and I felt sad about the state of this facility. The grounds appeared to have been mowed only a few times this... More

Unfortunately it looks like they'll be closed this summer, but this is a great track a bit outside of Richmond. I make the drive from Virginia Beach because it makes for a good day of fun. Plenty of seating available, only a couple bucks to get in, and then you can waste as much money as you'd like to gambling.... More

It is a very nice clean track with ample parking. It is a perfect place for novice betters with signs that clearly state how to word your bet. Minimum bids are very very low so it is possible to have a good time on a few meager dollars. The admission fee is low. The track is located in a safe... More

We went last summer and we had no idea what a nice facility this was. There is covered seating, inside seating, and you can also stand right up to the fence. There were a lot of families. Very reasonable entry fee and lots of activities for everyone.

My family and I go to Colonial Downs every year for the Virginia Derby and we always have a good time. We always pay to either sit in the Party Zone or upstairs in the Jockey Club. General admission is ok too but no perks and its often very hot outside and most years the weather does not cooperate and... More

This was my first visit to Colonial Downs and everyone was so friendly and helpful. The reason for us going was they were having a Rodeo. Which was so much fun. They had bull riding, barrel racing and rope tying. There was also a country band who played before and after the rodeo. The facility was more than expected. We... More
