"Les Jardins de Colette", is a 5 ha contemporary flower garden set near the Château de Castel-Novel in the town of Varetz, which was once home to the famous author Colette.

A thematic park, really accessible, which evokes six regions of France where Colette lived. A "botanical trip" in Colette's footsteps from her native Bugundy through Franche Comté, Brittany...to finish in the gardens oh the Palais Royal in Paris.

A giant maze covering 5000m² and giant games all along the way.

We visited the Jardins de Colette on a quiet day and it was great as we were with our 1 year old daughter. The various gardens are wonderful and all the family activities look like a lot of fun with older kids. We brought our food and used the picnic tables.

Newly founded garden linked to the writer Colette, this is really great for children with an educational maze and many games and activities. It is peaceful but for any adult interested in gardens it is a disappointment and the connection to Colette is a bit artificial.

A beautiful garden in which to walk around, great maze, season events, possibility to bring in a picnic. And it's even better if you know anything of the author Colette!

These gardens, which are based on 5 areas of France where Colette lived are a delight. We didn't have time to try the labyrinth, but from a vantage point above it we could see that this is clearly a wonderful place to take children.

Wander round and look at plants and shrubs. Personally? I'd rather wander round the abundant woodland of Correze and see what's real for free. :-)

These gardens were created to pay homage to the French Writer Colette, it is a thematic garden and so it’s really different from a forest. The important point is that you are like Colette because you love nature. We are sorry to learn that you don’t appreciate the original concept of these gardens. Looking forward to seeing you again in... More

A pleasant way to spend an hour or so, longer if you attempt the maze. Friendly staff and an interesting history of Collete

You cannot fault the dedication and enthusiasm of the staff here. I first came in 2007 just after the gardens had opened, and it was very pleasant and relaxing then. Since that visit, the garden itself has developed, and now puts on an interesting display that makes it a relaxing place to visit.

These gardens are new, but even in their young state are impressive and pleasant.
