Sandy beach. Excellent for swimming, surfing or paddle boarding. However, be careful of sharp rocks under the water. Very small car park is a problem. A larger park is several hundred metres from the beach. Excellent self cleaning toilets in the small car park. Snack bar and small shop just off the beach.

We visited this beach with a family of small children. The beach was full of dead sea plants. It made the beach look very untidy. Water was not clear. Some sea stuff there too. The kids enjoyed the beach. Waves were big enough to be exciting and small enough to be safe :) There was a lot off traffic on... More

All the beaches on this side of island are really nice, its pretty much one continuous beach for a many kilometers. Thought some sections are a little stonier than others. Plage Gros Jonc was nice and sandy. All the beaches have small car parks close by and though the towns are very close by but you feel cut off by... More

We were lucky to be staying 100 metres from this nice beach, probably one of the best beaches on the island. It has a grocery store and a decent beach bar connected to the 5-star camping site that will do well for both lunch and dinner if you are not too fuzzy. Steer away from the drinks - both alcoholic... If you want to spend a day on the beach on the Ile de Ré, Plage Gros Jonc might well be the best bet. Only about 45 minutes of gentle cycling from La Flotte, the beach has just the right amount of surf for learner or average surfers and enough wind (when we were there) to challenge competent sailboarders. Great... More

Found by accident but went back again as it had everything you need - lovely clean soft sand, the sea was not "weedy", there was plenty of room on the beach and nearby was an attractive cafe, little shop and clean loos. Mind you, this was in June so I can't say it will always be as quiet when the... More

Came across this one when exploring the island on bikes, it's a long stretch of lovely sand and gently shelving waters, great for kids, only downside was the sand flies, drive you insane when attempting to chill out and sunbathe!
