Fascinating Beach
Sep 2020 • Friends
Arriving by boat, I swam in from fairly far out. The water was clean, but there were few swimmers in the water. A sand bar where you can stand on the bottom is found about 100 yards out and then a deeper section before you hit the beach. I thought the rough sand/fine gravel on the beach was fascinating because of the variations in color, ranging from some green colored material, to black, to brown, to a light brown. I did not use the facilities on the beach.

Overcrowded beach in Italian style...
Aug 2019 • Couples
We were wondering about this "starred" beach, but a stay of 3 hours was more than enough...very crowded, sunbeds close to each other, ...

Perfect spot but crowded :/
Jul 2019
This is one of the best beach of Ischia. Be sure to come early otherwise you won't have place. But you will be a le to rent a beach matress. If you are lucky enough there also a clay spot to find for your skin.

Nice bay, nice water, pricey beds...
Jul 2019 • Couples
Very nice beach, the sunbeds are expensive but there is also a free beach if you dont feel like paying. Toilets and restaurant is nearby, and some watersports are available for hire.

Amazing boutique hotel experience
Jun 2019 • Couples
The San Montano hotel exceeded every expectation we could have had for both the facility and staff. Having explored the island over the course of a 5 day stay, we’d argue it is easily one of the nicest options if not the nicest option on the island.

The hotel is situated on the top of a large hill overlooking one of the larger towns on the island. This translates into picturesque views from whatever part of the property you are on and amazing sunsets, perfect for enjoying an evening aperitif to watch the sunset outside one of the many patios. The hotel is laid out such that there are many different small and large spaces which can accommodate both groups and couples giving you more of a communal or more of a private experience depending on your preference. It’s a large resort, but everything felt personalized and intimate.

As a couple staying there, we loved that the outdoor spaces in particular have both large and small pools at different temperatures that gave you the option to enjoy the temperature of your choice in the space of your choice. Many if not all of the pools were salt water which both felt great on the skin and made it easier to float the day away. We loved laying in the chairs near the fountains — the sound and the view is the sea was so relaxing.

We thought the food there was great and as good as any we found on the island. The food on Ischia set a very high bar to begin with vs the rest of our time on the Amalfi coast and in Naples. The bruschetta is the best and the pizza was wonderful! All the ingredients tasted so fresh. The included breakfast provided really diverse options that ranged from more traditional Italian options to some western options.

The rooms and communal spaces were always kept immaculately clean. In fact, one day we noticed a sad-looking lemon tree by the pool. The next day, they had already replaced it with a new one!

The staff was always super helpful and went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. On several nights they provided suggestions for dinner and facilitated travel to and from each restaurant. We were happy with all their recommendations as it took the guesswork out of what were often mixed online reviews of many of the options we were initially considering. The staff seemed to genuinely care about our time on the island and would ask us how we enjoyed the dinner the next day. They take great pride in making sure that you have a positive experience in Ischia.

All and all, we couldn’t have been happier with our choice to stay here and would both come back in a heartbeat and recommend a stay there to anyone visiting Italy.

Handy access via stay at San Montano resort

Small lovely sandy beach with welcoming warm sea. Umbrellas and sun loungers available. Two restaurants/cafes on site. One end of the beach has a thermal outlet flowing in to it if you like your sea that bit warmer!

Best beach in the world.
Aug 2018 • Family
This is a hidden gem. We visited twice, once through Negombo, and once on the public beach. The beach was so nice it made no sense to leave it and visit the fake thermal pools at Negombo. A thermal stream vents into this beach water so it is warm and clear. Clear enough to collect dentalium and shells, and I even found a bit of ancient pottery well worn by the gentle waves. Very safe for kids to swim as it is shallow even far out. Yachts bring swimmers and snorkelers here too. Bring food, an umbrella for shade, and a towel or chair and make use of the snack bar on the public side. Don't wait too late as they sell out of food. Be prepared for no toilet seats (even at Negombo) and confusion as you must order everything from a small window, then proceed to the larger one for pick up...even for water. Better than Australian beaches as there are no flies!

Not worth a visit
Jul 2018 • Family
The bay is not so breathtaking.

Parking cost 5€.

Sunbeds are old, dining is limited to a simple takeaway. Even if you pay for sunbeds, they charge you for a shower. The hole place is worn down. Nothing to see except the bay.

Wather is green close to land. Suppose that is due to local thermal upcome.

Ischia is a beautiful island. Go to the Negombo spa or go somewhere else on Ischia.

The baia down the San Montano
Aug 2017 • Couples
Too crowded and water gets dirty due to hotels nearby. We had visited only one day and they stopped and used only the swimming pools at the hotel. However I was told the gardens down the bay are wonderful.

Beautiful place, excellent beach
Jun 2018
This bay has a beautiful beach, is easily accessible from Laco Amenno, is easy to swim at, and is very suitable for children and families. But we paid €25 for 2 beds and an umbrella which was a little steep.
