This is a Goldilocks zoo, just right. You can spend a nice day here and cover everything and the kids will love it. We take the grand kids on a regular and they never tire of it. They range from 6 to 15. The layout is good and they even have a train ride through the zoo.Must see.

The Reptiles and Australia were closed. Nice zoo but when two big areas are closed we were finished in less than 2 hours.

We're pretty lucky to have this zoo so close. We've had a membership for years (at least 10) and have been more times than I can count. If you're visiting the area or are local but just haven't been yet, I highly recommend you check out the Virginia Zoo. If you bring your little ones during the summer months, be... More

Located a few miles from the downtown area this is one of the activities available on the Tourist Ticket available at the city's visitor center. The zoo, unlike the visitors center has ample free parking and easy access. After paying for the downtown parking, the savings is eliminated and the enthusiasm vaporizes. The zoo is probably above average for city... More

They have large pens for animals to get on, about or just sit and watch us watch them. Not a large zoo, but quaint. Nice roving paths that give you that little bit of exercise to perhaps enjoy a quiet lunch by yourself or with your kids. The kids will love it! A tram is available or us older folks... More

They should be charging a reduced rate was three areas not open! The white rhinos were not out yet, the reptile area was not open yet and the Australia/Kangaroo area was closed the day we went! What a disappointment.

It was a lot of fun. We got to see the tiger waking up which was pretty cool. You will definitely have to check out the gift shop.

It was a long time since I visited the Norfolk Zoo with my children. I had decided to talk my nephew on the unusually warm February Saturday which was FREE for Virginia residents that month. I was pleasantly surprised on the changes and wonderful new attractions since my last visit over 10 years previously. We had a great time overall... More

I had 3 LOs with. Nice simple trail to follow. Stroller friendly. Nice educational plaques. Good availability/choice. All around a nice small/medium sized zoo.
