Laid back village and start of great walking route

Inland(!) surfing centre with cool bars and restos. The USA themed bar at the start of the walk to Corralejo had blues playing when we called to take on water. The walk via... read more

If you want to stay in a layed back village, stay here! No all inclusive hotels! Just nice people and smal caffee houses and restaurants. And the good thing is that Lajares is in the middle of the island (nord) you can easily drive to both beaches to go surfing or kiting!

Inland(!) surfing centre with cool bars and restos. The USA themed bar at the start of the walk to Corralejo had blues playing when we called to take on water. The walk via volcano country, was desolate but fascinating. Barbary squirrels in numbers guaranteed at the top ofthe perfect crater of Calderon Hondo and we had good views of Egyptian Vulture... A captivating little place with lots of surf school. Quite a bohemian place with lots of surfers walking round. A couple of bars and restaurants that come alive at night.

What a chilled little village this is. It is situated on the main road between Corralejo and El Cotillo with surf gear shops, cafes/restaurants, bars and craft shops. A stroll down the length of the village a and back, stopping for a drink, is a delight.

Half way between Corralejo and El Cotillo, Lajares is a place of its own. Good choice for companies of surfers and other wave/wind seekers to stay. It has a few shops and cafes, as well as local crafts market (not sure of schedule, you have to check in advance).

Stopped off a few times travelling through here for pastries at el Goloso and to stock up at supermarket. Theres not an awful lot here but it has a really laid back atmosphere and is just a nice place to hang around for a bit. Few shops and cafes. Saturday morning markets not up to much though, very small and... More
