The cheese market is not on every day, but you can view the area. There is also a statue of two men carrying cheese rounds, and other cheese artefacts. A cute town and this is a little tourist like. Thanks for your vote.

Edam is a quiet and charming little village. Much smaller than I had expected based on it's cheese fame. Ironic that the cheese market in the centre of the village is owned by a local cheese maker that specialises in Gouda cheese.

We really enjoyed the ambiance. The whole town gets into the cheese market festivities and tries their hardest to make it fun. Our hats off to them!! The day we were there, there was a famous Dutch singer to entertain the crowd. The organizers also...More

What a darling town. We arrived a couple of hours before the market activities began so we had a chance to enjoy the city and take a lot of photos before the crowds arrived. The locals doing the market really play their roles well and...More

A cheese market is held once a week on Wednesday in the center of the small town of Edam. The market is actually a show in favor of the tourists, and the show demonstrates several times in a row how the cheeses were weighed and...More

Because of the worldwide fame of Edam cheese, you assume that the town of that name will be quite large - but it isn’t. It is more of a sleepy village, which makes it ideal for a lazy stroll.

It is in Edam, 3 km from Volendam. The market happens on Wednesdays during the Summer, in the mornings, 10.30 to 12.30!

Dear Mr Opa Fox, The cheese markets are only held in July and August. But during the period that you visit Holland there are a lot of other interesting things to do. For example the Keukenhof in Lisse is open. That's a... More
