This is my favorite place for a weekend day outdoor activity with friends and family. It is beautiful in all 4 seasons. It is colorful in spring and fall, cool in summer. I have not be there in winter but is planning to do so soon. The sound of running water is very soothing as you walk along the trails... More

We first hiked this in September 2015. From the moment we left we have been talking about when we could come back. We finally made it back and it was just as wonderful as we remembered. This was one of the most beautiful hikes we have ever done. Almost the entire trail is creekside...I mean lean over at any point... More

We hiked this trail while visiting our son at VA Tech. We opted to hike the upper route to the falls which is a steady uphill trek but has a clearly defined path. We reversed and hiked the lower route on the way back which does not have the incline but you need to make sure where you place your... More

Great place for hiking. Serene and soothing. Beautiful and calming. Some caveats; It's a half a day trip. 4 miles round trip. Not suitable for small children and unfit people. Go with a company if it can be helped. Hiking shoes are strongly recommended. Here are 3 trails, and but the more beautiful ones are the hardest. Anywhere between 5-15... More

This was one of the most beautiful hikes we have ever been on. We went with my daughter and her friends while visiting her at Virginia Tech. It was easy to get to and $3 parking was fine. The hike was easy, but interesting, right along the river. We want to go back in the summer months when the water... More

We took the lower scenic hike up. This gives lovely views of the river as you climb, but is more difficult than the alternative route as it includes more uneven surfaces and steps. If you are fit and healthy then this should not be a problem. We came down by the upper route which was a much easier and gentle... More

Loved the scenic view. It was a long two mile like and lots of rock steps. This scenic hike is meant for people that are in shape and have no issues walking. The easy path is well maintained and can be hiked by most. Trails are very well maintained. Take bottled water. Beautiful creek as you walk to the falls.... More

My husband and I have been the site hosts for 6 yrs now.  As we end our last season here, I thought I'd write a review of my own. The Cascades are beautiful.  This site has grown exponentially over the years.   On any given weekend from April thru Oct., (into Nov. for VT home games) the 83 car lot is... More

I went with my mother-in-law, husband and son, did not read the signs well enough took the "scenic" path, which was much more challenging than the straight path.

This is a must do if you are in the area. The hike felt a bit longer than 2 miles but it was worth it at the end! Just beautiful!
