Must see when in the area. A marvel built in 1949! Pretty easy to drive up to the top to see. Apparently numerous trails around the mountain but only found map at the top. Trails are not marked at all so you don't know where...More

A Roanoke Icon, the Star is kept in great shape. There are lots of biking and walking trails around and the city view is mighty fine.

It has a great view of the city below. It was kind of hazy in the middle of Summer, but it was still a nice view. We were there around 6 pm and got to witness a wedding.

Enjoyed letting my 18 month old run around and climb on the rocks. You do have to walk little kids though because some areas of the park are very steep. But other than that it was a good way to get some energy out and...More

We drove around and looked at the park. Walked to the overlook and it was so foggy, but so cool to look down and we were above the fog. Would be fun to go in the summer.

Awesome experience! The view was fantastic - went at night and during the day. Took a short hike and took pics of view and Star - will definitely be back.

We went around 7 in the evening by the time we got there it was dusk dark and the star looked great. The parking area is right next to the platform to view the star so the walk is very brief to and from the star.

I doubt there is space for a group that big at the actual star and zoo parking and picnic area. There are other areas in the park which is next to the Blue Ridge Parkway. The Blue Ridge Parkway had a number of large picnic... More
