Top rated place to visit in Roanoke Virginia and found out why. Two overlooks of the valley and mountain ranges was spectacular. The grounds were kept up very nicely. There is a zoo, small garden area and visitor center but which were closed at the time of our visit.

No visit to Roanoke is complete without getting a gander of the Mill Mountain Star. It one of the things that makes Roanoke unique. It's only a few minutes from downtown and it's visible from many hotel windows. The park is nice and offers beautiful vistas. Bring a picnic lunch and head on up!

We always visit the star about every year. We love this city and the star. The views are amazing and the park provides a great walk.

Best view of the valley! Every time I have family that come to visit, I take them up to the Star. My more adventurous family members want to come back hike the Green-way trail that ends at the star when it gets warmer and stays warm so we will definitely be doing that and have a picnic at the top.... Good quiet place to enjoy the view and just relax with the kids for a while! Great view from the star; zoo is a little overpriced but cool for the kids!

There is a very small trail; but still nice for kids. The view is amazing - you can see for miles. They have a childrens zoo which is very nice and highly recommended! They also have a nice restroom facility with great parking near the zoo but harder parking near the star. Check out the webcam they have at the... More

The view from the Mill Mountain Star provides a great long range of the Roanoke Valley. Be advised the experience is enhanced if the wind is not blowing at the overlook.
