Hupp's Hill Civil War Park is the home of the ONLY museum dedicated to telling the story of the Civil War Battle of Cedar Creek fought nearby. The museum features numerous archaeological artifacts and a 45 minute film on the battle in our theatre. The Battle of Cedar Creek was the largest battle fought in the Shenandoah Valley.Outside, our grounds have a 1/2 mile loop nature/ history trail that highlights remains of Civil War fortifications, fantasic views of the surrounding landscape, and the unique geology of the region. We also have picnic facilities for those who want to take a break from traveling.Hupp's Hill is also the home of the Gateway to Shenandoah Visitor Center, your information source for travel in Shenandoah County, the Shenandoah Valley, and the state of Virginia.Hupp's Hill is jointly operated by the Cedar Creek Battlefield Foundation and the Town of Strasburg.

Hupp's Hill Visitor's Center has a couple of very informative videos. It is not an overwhelming place. The staff was very friendly and informative.

We are constantly looking for the little gems that give you more of an insight into history than often found in the "major" attractions. this was another of those finds. The person on duty that day spent a lot of time explaining the significance and history of the area and added her own flair. The video presentation of the Battle... More

Took young grandchildren and they had a great visit. They elected to watch the ghost movie - unfortunately the cave was damaged and you can't go looking for him. But we did get to check out a sink hole and some geology of the area. Miss Linda was a great tour guide.

This place was a nice way to spend a rainy day - can be done in 1-2 hrs. The kids (aged 4-11) enjoyed the Civil War artifacts the most, and we adults enjoyed reading the story boards. The movie is a must - very interesting, and the kids enjoyed that too. Be sure to spend time outside in the park,... More

With so many battles fought in Virginia battlefield sites are not always preserved. But this is a small site with a museum that is an excellent little site. Great movie explaining the battle of Cedar Creek

This place is probably decent if you're a civil war buff. We went because it was rainy, and while it wasn't a bad way to kill a few hours, the $5 cover charge for a one-room museum seemed kind of high. There is a 45 minute video you can start off with that is clearly locally made; with that said,... More

We were impatient, on a nice fall day, to get out and walk. However, we stayed for the movie and found it a first-rate presentation of the Civil War in the area. The Museum staff were knowledgeable and accommodating, the other exhibits are interesting artifacts and the gift shop was a stocking stuffer find. All in all, a very fine... More

The lady who greeted us at the door was wonderful. Friendly and very knowledgeable of what went on during the war in that area. The museum was well stocked with actual civil war relics from the local battles. The film of approximately 42 minutes was very informative.

Was taking my mom to see some of Virginia. Something she has wanted to do for a long time. Stayed at the Ramada in Strasburg and after check-in, we went to Hupp's Hill Park. We got there an hour before they closed for the night but the attendant was very helpful and shared her vast knowledge with us and made... More

Loved this small place. Very nice walking trail with interesting placards throughout giving the history. Very small gift shop but they have some really beautiful wood items. The lady at the desk was very friendly and informative. We did not go in the museum but she said there were lots of artifacts from the war so I'm sure Civil War... More
