While Virginia Beach is the one that attracts tourists Sandbridge is more popular with locals. Parking is a challenge, but if you don't mind walking, you can find a spot and the walk to a quite part of the beach, or you can drive to the south end where there is plenty of parking.

The beach was in use but it was not crowded. There were families with children, young people, and older people. The beach changing rooms were not open today, so we used the family restroom to change. It was not clean, wet and covered in sand The beach down the road, Little Island park, was similar but one set of changing... More

We visited the state park at Sandbridge beach as well as the free fishing pier. We saw dolphins and crabs. Love the dunes and would definitely go back

This used to be one of the locals beaches when I was growing up, but now it's a tourist destination for those who don't want to be too close to the boardwalk. While it's a lot more crowded than it used to be, Sandbridge is still a great place to bring families. There are public bathroom/changing facilities close, and inexpensive... More

A bit difficult to find and park but if you can walk it is worth the trip to watch the sunset. Bring you bug spray as the little bugs just love bothering you. Bring a chair, appetizers and enjoy!

We visited Sandbridge Beach and drove around to look at the beach houses. Stopped in a couple of stores too. It's a nice area.

Must see area. Much nicer than the oceanfront area. Lovely beach to walk at sunrise. Plenty of parking and awesome houses for vacation rentals. Be sure and drive to the very end of the beach. It's a protected area that is pristine.

I try to visit Sandbridge anytime I'm in Virginia Beach. A bit of a drive from the main beach, but totally worth it. If you can wait until sunrise, or sunset, this will be the best times to go. A beautiful sunrise location, and for sunset, beautiful winds and a fairly empty beach to enjoy the start of your evening.... More

Located on a sandy peninsula, surrounded by private homes and located within a state park, this is one of the most beautiful, pristine beaches you will see on the eastern seaboard. The adjoining public fishing pier is open year-round with no admission fees. A small park for the children and a large bath house are conveniently located just past the... More
