The Wildfowl Museum is free, so it's definitely worth paying a visit if you are on the boardwalk. It's a bit small, and might not be as interesting to someone who isn't a sportsman or wood carver, but I was able to appreciate the beautiful carvings. The upstairs includes some history on Virginia Beach and the original family that owned... More

We spent a week in Virginia Beach in early November and this was the highlight of our trip. Granted, there is not a lot going on along the Boardwalk when it is chilly and windy. We loved our visit to this cottage. The upstairs is devoted to the history of the cottage and Virginia Beach, and the first floor is... More

We have always enjoyed and collected decoys so we knew this was a must. One of the earliest building left right on the beach. Filled with decoys, photos, books other notable items pertaining to wildfowl. And it's FREE. Donations are in order.

The museum was s pleasant surprise, right on the Virginia Beach Boardwalk. We got to watch a decoy making presentation, with a friendly and knowledgeable staff providing really good information on the whole museum. Interesting history lessons about the whole area is presented throughout the museum.

We totally loved this! My son's 9,5,& 2 all enjoyed themselves. The staff was sooooo knowledgeable and taught us so much! My oldest son asked a ton of questions about the guns and decoys and they patiently answered him! Definitely check it out!

My husband and I were riding bikes on a foggy morning and stopped here to check it out. There was an artist there carving some cardinals out of wood. The decoys there are works of art. Some very old. Nice place to visit for area history.

The history of the cottage and wildfowl hunting were cool. They have some outstanding and realistic carvings. The carvers are awesome to talk to. Near history of the DeWitt family and Virginia Beach is great. It is free too.

Strolling along the Boardwalk I happened upon this free museum and was delightfully surprised. It's a combination of an informative learning experience and art appreciation. The museum features many hand-carved decoys for art lovers and great explanations and knowledgeable staff for bird lovers. If you're strolling by, you should stop in.

We visited on a very rainy day, two floors of interesting historical facts. Lots of pictures and the staff when asked, was very informative.
