Gorgeous respite!

This is a beautiful place! We essentially had the place to ourselves. The lake is beautiful and we enjoyed our walk. We hope to visit in warmer weather!

We drove just over 4 hours to camp, hike, fish and see the beautiful fall foliage. We were not disappointed. Bolar Mountain Recreation Area is located on the glorious Lake Moomaw. The site was well laid out and family friendly. Each campsite was situated so that you had the sense of a private campsite. The couple managing the site were... More

Had a wonderful time at Campground 1. Lovely place. The lake was very low at this time of the year, but beautiful! Hike the Twin island overlook. You won't be disappointed!

Very nice place to camp. Quiet, and peaceful at the campground. The beach area was VERY nice with picnic tables and benches available up in a shady wooded area. The teenagers really enjoyed it. The camp hosts were friendly and efficient. All the people camping around us were super friendly. Only wish they had water hookups at each site or... More

I visited this campsite with my husband and our 1 year old and had a wonderful time! The drive to the campground is beautiful, the beach is relaxing, the views are stunning, the hikes are pleasant, and the campground was well-maintained. There is a small playground near the beach but is only appropriate for 5+ but my son loved playing... More

My husband and I took a few days off of work to getaway to the Warm Springs area. We were planning to stay a night at Bolar Mountain campground or out on Greenwood point. There was rain in the forecast so we opted to make a day trip of it instead. A pretty warm summer day we set off to... More

Highly recommend this campground. Beautiful lake views for both sunrise and sunset. Camp sites are large, easily accessed, and have a picnic table, fire ring, and lantern holder. Beach is perfect for swimming with bath house and showers on site. We arrived without a reservation on a Friday late afternoon, and luckily got one of the 3 spaces left. We... More

Well maintained campsite. The hosts, Larue and Wes were delightful - the drive was slightly intimidating but well worth it.

The beauty of this place coupled with the beautiful water, swimming access, unbelievable views and lovely campsite made the trek from NY worth it. Showers have plentiful hot water & campsite is very clean. I believe almost all sites are on the water with access. There are many boaters but there's no safety issues. I saw many people camping &... Stayed at the campground in a double RV site overlooking the lake. The camp was pristine and the camp hosts, Larue and her husband, were friendly and helpful. The bathrooms and showers were sparkling clean. We watched the sun set over the lake, watched a dozen loons swimming and awoke to glass surface on the lake broken only by the... More
