The Governor's Place is spectacular! It is as close to a European Castle as the colonies could produce - albeit for the representative of the King. The tours are good and some are excellent - depending on the guide. Don't miss the kitchen house where you might be able to sample some fresh-baked Queen cake!

If you've been to Versailles, Palace seems to be a generous term for this place. I would use the term Estate or Mansion. It was a nice educational tour and the grounds are lovely too.

The Palace and the Capital tours are the highlights not to be missed in Colonial Williamsburg. Our guide did a tremendous job of guiding us through this remarkable reconstruction. Don't miss the gardens behind. And catch a performance at the Governor's stage behind the Palace. Wonderful!

The lady guide made the visit such a pleasure. My husband and I are history fans and she made the building, it´s history, the last governor and his family come to live. She also told us about her grandmother while we were waiting and that was really interesting. I highly recommend that you go to the governors palace if you... More

Once again I have to question TA’s editorial choices. There is no way to visit the Governor’s Place without paying also for the whole of Colonial Williamsburg (see separate review), so this site should be reviewed only as part of the whole site. Just like the Hope diamond is part of the Museum of Natural History, or the Gioconda is... More

The house is in outstanding condition, and very grand. Worth the wait that is generally required. Go early for the shortest lines.

We toured the palace and learned some of the rich history of who visited there and the customs of that day. Very interesting.

Really neat to see how they lived and the guided tour hit the spot to ask questions and really get an idea of what was happening back then...the cellar underneath was pretty neat as well
