A Fascinating Experience

We enjoyed the tour of the Museum and historical films as well as the outdoor exhibits along the water. This is definitely well worth the admission price and your time!

The Jamestown Settlement is a great pitstop to make on your trip to Williamsburg- the indoor museum is quite extensive and interesting- the 'fort' is really cool too- we watched them shoot muskets, tried on armor and chatted with a 'preacher' in the church- the ships were also fascinating and really gave an inside view to the hardships of sea... While they're currently renovating, something they did 12 years ago too ,I was told a good part was to expand on the African storyline in honor of their 2019 celebration. The staff seem to really love their job and love the history. A lot of the bad reviews seem to be because people are expecting the historic Jamestown site, and... More

I really enjoy the National Park actual Jamestown exhibit but the Jamestown Settlement an excellent rendition of how the colonists and native peoples lived in the early 17th century. The reproduction ships, forts and villages show the tools buildings and crafts. The accompanying museum has many artifacts and provides historical details that are well presented to be informative and easily... More

When my grandfather watched me, we loved to take history trips together. I have also been to this location on multiple field trips. The things I love about it most is you can actually climb into the ships! They also have an archaeological area and a great exhibit! Enjoy!

Visited 2/11/17 and over half the inside exhibits were gone. Wouldn't recommend going until they are replaced. When we inquired we were told they were being upgraded. Not sure what that means. Save your money. Why pay full price for half an experience.

We took our 3 granddaughters to the reproduction of Jamestown Settlement. Two of the girls had been there before with class field trips. This was an excellent time for them to followup that experience because they set the pace and chose what they wanted to know more about. The weather was perfect and the crowds were light. It was the weekend after school began.I... It did not give me a sense of history because it appeared too sanitized, too much of movie set than a replica of what it was that has such significance in US history. However, it is a pretty drive from Washington DC for a day's outing with a leisurely lunch stop in any of the vineyards along the way.

This is a great way for kids to learn history because it has individuals in period clothing performing tasks of that time period. We've visited similar settings but I still learned new information during this visit. The volunteers who man the exhibits are very knowledgeable. I highly recommend it, especially for families.
