It is a nice ride and it is free, if you don't mind poor schedule keeping, security stuff and a wait to get on and off. The ride is about 20 minutes across the James River.

Even if you don't have to go to Scotland it is a fun time! I wanted the family to see what it is like to go with the car on a ferry. The kids loved it

This is an absolute must if you go to Williamsburg. It is free and an absolute delight. About 15 mins each way. There is a viewing deck from which you get lovely views of Jamestowne and the river.

I'm from central Nebraska, so I'm used to being fairly land locked! The idea of driving a vehicle onto a boat seems very foreign to me! BUT after visiting Suffolk, a very friendly local suggested we try it! Said we wouldn't be out of anything...More

We bought pizzas at the Jamestown Pie Company (1804 Jamestown Rd, Williamsburg, VA) and drove down to the ferry, drove on, turned off the engine and had our lunch while enjoying the scenery! Best of all the ride is free, which we could not believe!!!

We try and take the ferry every time we're in the area. It's a fun adventure for visitors to the area and gives you a wonderful view of the Jamestown Settlement from the James River.

We have three kids all under the age of 12 so they thought it was cool to load the van onto a boat but beyond that it's really not an "attraction". If you've never experienced a ferry ride, go for it! It's free.

Yes, but you may not get turned around in time to catch the same ferry and will end up waiting for the next one. about 20 min.

You can walk on the ferry on either side but you'll need to arrange transportation on each side, especially the Surry side. There is a great seafood restaurant close to the ferry. The ferry is alway fun. Enjoy it!
