Decades ago, Winchester was a common stop for our Family of Origin as we traveled to Washington, DC by car. Winchester, VA always merits a visit when we are in MD, Eastern WV, or Northern VA. One will not be disappointed with a Winchester visit,...More

The Museum is located in an old court house, a very nice neo-classical building with 4 tall columns covering the facade. This Georgian house changed hands multiple times during the Civil War and was used as a hospital, as a prison, and at times, as...More

This is worth the visit and a good place to take someone new to the area. Hard to imagine what the walls could say if they could talk.

I am grateful for the preservation of this facilty. Walking through it takes time, and you don't want to rush. You are actually standing on the same grounds where the soldiers stood...so thought provoking. Lots of reading and actual artifacts...when you step outside the museum,...More

Such a gorgeous building with amazing history. The curator met us as we walked in and spoke to us for a long time. He was extremely knowledgeable and fun to talk to.

Well stocked and maintained little museum in heart of historical district. Good collection of ammo, emblems and preserved writings on the walls from when it served as both a hospital and prison. $5.00 well spent.
