This little 'gem' is a must for anyone wanting to walk along a beautiful fall in the heart of the Mountains in Va. Very safe for everyone but does require you to be able to navigate some steep steps.

We approached the falls from the west, from Interstate 81, exit 205. The road was one s-curve, another s-curve, another s-curve and an occasional 50 ft of straight road; but the fall color was the best we saw the entire week in the area. The...More

Crabtree Falls is a beautiful spot to visit, especially on a cool Fall morning. It’s described as a hike, though I’d say it’s more like climbing stairs. And it’s kind of busy too, so don’t expect to feel like you’ve got the place to yourself....More

We have climbed the falls trail almost yearly for over 20 years and the beauty never ceases to thrill us. As the years roll by the physical challenge in some areas (lots of steep steps) seems to increase but it is always worth the effort....More

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed it despite the Labor Day crowds. You will definitely work up a good sweat on a warm day. The trail is well maintained, but I'd still recommend appropriate footwear. There is a great spot for a picnic at the...More

Crabtree Falls is a great hike that is almost straight down and then back straight up to see the falls. It is not extremely difficult but be aware that when you go down you have to come back up. The falls itself is cool. Probably...More

Decided to go for a hike at the falls on a Saturday and really enjoyed it. It's a scenic hike and not terribly strenuous (many were even carrying their babies up). Took us about an hour to get to the top and just under that...More

This is noted as a "moderate" hike by the Parks department, but I would classify it as harder than moderate for most of it. It is 1.7 (yes, I noted every marker...) up the side of the falls/hill. We are in good shape albeit used...More

It is a fine mountain highway. That being said, we are not mountain people, and took it from the top down- it is a little nerve-wracking but should be fine for any normal vehicle. The pavement is in good condition, just... More
